If you have used Shape Styles, you know that applying them adds a style that’s based on both Theme Colors and Theme Effects. Theme Fonts are also used, but if you go ahead and change the font for any text within the shape from the default Theme Font to something else, then Shape Styles will leave your font choices alone. Even then, changes seen after applying Shape Styles can be quite noticeable.

Now there’s something new, that can be found in Office 365 versions of PowerPoint. The styles we saw in Figures 1 and 2 are now called Theme Styles, and can be seen in the top area of the Shape Styles gallery, as can be seen in Figure 3, below. Also, did you notice the new Presets area, right below Theme Styles?

These new Presets work only with Theme Colors and Theme Fonts and are simpler than the Theme Styles. In fact, you will use these more often than the Theme Styles! Some of these styles are perfect if you want to add a transparent or semi-transparent shape with one click.
